Donald Edward Albrecht PharmD., died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 12, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Donald and Patricia Albrecht. His mother survives. Donald married Adrienne Wakat (Judge Albrecht) on August 5, 1978 at Maternity BVM Church in Bourbonnais, IL after graduating from the University of Illinois Medical Center from which he later obtained a PharmD. His daughter, Patricia Albrecht and son and son-in- law, Donald Emory Albrecht and David Mahon, all of Chicago, survive him; as do his brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard and Florence Albrecht of Beecher, Ed and Sue Albrecht of Geneva; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Louise and Robert Albrecht-Mallinger of Porter, IN, and Kathleen and Mark Jahnke of Thornton; brothers and sisters-in-law: Marc, Kristy, Jeff, Cindy, Diane, Barb, and Sue Wakat, Rita and Jim Wronkiewicz, Mary and Bill Drasler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Albrecht created the first clinical pharmacy program in the area at Riverside Medical Center and taught Pharmacology to Nursing Students at Olivet Nazarene University. He also assisted in the training of pharmacy students as preceptor at both local hospitals. He loved training new pharmacists by teaching them to place patient health and safety first and being willing to tell others what they needed to know, as opposed to just what they wanted to hear. He loved music and spending time with his family, his dogs, and his African Gray Parrots. . Visitation will be Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais, IL. There will be a Funeral Mass Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Maternity B.V.M., Bourbonnais, IL. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais, IL.
