DONNA LEE CASSON PORTAGE, IN Donna Lee Casson (nee Sowers), age 59, of Portage, passed away March 4, 2013 at her home after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born on August 6, 1953 in Gary, IN to W. Douglas Sowers and Jacqueline (Earl) Hansen whom both preceded her in death. Donna is survived by her loving husband, David B. Casson; beloved son, Christopher Lee Douglas Casson; mother-in- law, Claudia Casson; stepmother, Carolyn Hord Sowers; sisters: Darla (Robert) Vellines of Lake Station, Belinda (Terry) Potts of Portage, Dena (Rod) Speiss of Delavan, WI, Kitti (Dennis) Culer of Kingsford Heights, Liza (Bill Seymour) Hamlet, Lynda (Tom) Kirkman of Morris, IL, and Diana Sowers of Valparaiso; brothers: Erik Karl Hansen of Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law: Lori (James) Irvin of Portage and Toni (Dana Kurzawinski) Casson of Portage; 17 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by her precious son, Brian David Fred Casson; father- in-law, Fred Casson; and stepfather, Robert C. Hansen. Donna was a 1971 graduate of Calumet High School. On November 1, 1980, she married David B. Casson. Donna retired from Porter County Public Library System in 2008. She loved to crochet afghans for family and friends and was an avid Railcats fan. She and David were season ticket holders for many years. Donna loved riding with her husband, David, on his motorcycle. They also shared a love of Lake Michigan. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Tate's Place, 3051 Willowcreek Road, Portage IN. There will be food and music as we share our stories and love for Donna. Arrangements being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage IN 46368.
