Edward Andrew Kepchar, age 80, of Valparaiso and formerly Gary, passed away May 14, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cathy; daughters: Janice (Richard) Rakos and Audrey Kepchar; two brothers: John and Albert Kepchar; grandsons: Jonathan, Roger and Christopher; two granddaughters: Jessie Sass and Morai Helfin; and great grandson, Jaden. Edward was preceded in death by his parents: Steve and Mary Kepchar; daughter, Valerie Johnson; and sister, Helen Brodar. Edward graduated from Lew Wallace High School, served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was employed by the Gary Police Department. Following retirement, he worked at Chase Bank as a Fraud Investigator. He was an honest man and had a great sense of humor. Ed was a member of St. Patrick Church in Chesterton. He had many friends and will really be missed. Friends may visit with Edward's family on Sunday from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart, IN. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Burns Funeral Home with Rev. Lou Pasala officiating.
