Professor Edward C. Gallett, age 91 of Saint John, Indiana passed away on April 17, 2013. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Helen also of St. John; his brother, Bill Gallett of Dyer; his parents: Norman C. Gallett and Bernice R. Gallett of Harvey, IL. Mr. Gallett is survived by his five children; Paul Gallett of St. John, Judy (Ken) Walker of Crown Point, IN, Jill (Walt) Faber of Rockford, IL, Beth (Bob) Peterson of Granger, IN, and Carol (David) Peterson of Xenia, OH; 13 grandchildren: Rachel (Michael) Baker of Crown Point, IN, Nathan (Sally) Walker of Redwood City, CA, Katherine (Brad) Haan of Crown Point, IN, Jennifer Walker of Oxford, England, Joanna (Greg) Nelson of Cherry Valley, IL, Jessica Faber of Chicago, IL, Jacqueline Faber of Rockford, IL, Nicole Peterson, Natalie Peterson and Marshall Peterson of Granger, IN, Rebecca Peterson, Sarah Peterson, and Steven Peterson of Xenia, OH; and four great grandchildren: Benjamin Baker, Grace Baker and Colton Haan of Crown Point, IN, and Everly Kay Nelson of Cherry Valley, IL. Mr. Gallett was born in Harvey, IL on February 26, 1922 to Norman C. and Bernice R. Gallett. He graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1940. Mr. Gallett received a B.S. and M.S. degree in Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. Professor Gallett taught in the Engineering and Technology curriculum at Purdue University Calumet Campus for 33 years. Because the department he worked in was small, he taught most of the courses in the curriculum at one time or another. This included courses in the four-year Engineering program, and courses in the two and four-year Mechanical Engineering Technology programs, and also Industrial Training courses. Professor Gallett loved to build things. He designed and built his own home in St. John where he lived with his wife for 58 years until her death in 2006. Although he was not a church member, he cooperated with his wife who was Catholic, in raising their five children in the Catholic religion. Friends may visit with the family at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave., St. John, IN (just south of Lake Central High School) on April 19, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a brief meeting at the funeral home on Saturday April 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. to say good bye. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Schererville. (approximately one mile east of Cline Ave. on U.S. 30). Professor Gallett has written a paper entitled "My Thoughts on Religion and Human Behavior" that will be read at his wake starting at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to
