FRANCIS W. RICHEL PORTAGE, IN
Francis W. Richel, age 92, of Portage, formerly of Michigan, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013. He was born on October 4, 1920 in Gladstone, MI to Frank and Lillian Richel (nee Quinn). Francis served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and repairing things in his spare time. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. Francis is survived by his four children: Dennis (Mary) Richel of Portage, Steven Richel of Chicago, Linda (Edward) Porembski of Scottsdale, AZ, and Timothy Richel of Lombard, IL; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and other dear family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Betty Richel. Funeral services for Francis will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 beginning with prayers at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage then going in procession to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2447 Putnam St., Lake Station for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place Monday, September 23, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 27034 S. Diagonal Rd., Elwood, IL. Visitation for Francis will be Friday, September 20, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. prayer vigil at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, (219) 762-3013 or online at: www.Reesfuneralhomes.com
