Frank J. Bertucci, age 85 of Portage, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Horton VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. Frank had been a Portage resident for 48 years. After graduating from Froebel High School in Gary in 1945, he then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WW II and also served in the Korean War. Frank graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1955 with a B.S. in Business. He was a retired accountant from U.S. Steel in Gary with 42 years of dedicated employment and very active in Portage Little League for over 30 years serving in various offices of the League. Frank was also a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, Portage American Legion Post #260, and Portage Knights of Columbus Council #9114. Frank is survived by three sons: Vincent (Rae) Bertucci of Elmhurst, IL, Daniel (Laura) Bertucci of Valparaiso, and Martin Bertucci of Portage; four daughters: Laura (Barry) Peterson of Louisville, KY, Christina (Howard) Kra of Bethesda, Maryland, Lisa (Chad) Miller of Crown Point, and Gina Helton of Portage; 16 grandchildren; one great grandson; sister, Elizabeth (Harold) Nagel of Portage; and nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Virginia "Ginny" Bertucci in 2006. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Nativity School Endowment Fund would be appreciated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, with Rev. Andrew J. Corona celebrating the Mass. Frank will be taken to church Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. for visitation until Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow the Mass. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. American Legion service at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, 219-762- 3013 or online
