JENNIFER LORETTO (MARTIN) LAYHEW CROWN POINT, IN FORMERLY MONROE, MI Jennifer Loretto (Martin) Layhew, 43 years, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord suddenly and of natural causes on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 9:50 PM in her home. Born May 23, 1970 in Monroe, Jenny was the daughter of John F. and Marguerite (McGeady) Martin. Jenny attended St. John The Baptist Elementary School and was a 1988 graduate of St. Mary's Academy High School. Jenny furthered her education and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education with a special education endorsement from Purdue University. Jenny was Baptized, Confirmed and was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, where on November 29, 1997 she married her best friend, lifelong companion, and the love of her life, Lance J. Layhew. Fr. Terrence Kerner officiated. Jenny loved children and worked at various schools in Indiana as an elementary school teacher. More than anything, Jenny loved family. Jenny is survived by her best friend and beloved husband, Lance; her caring mother, Marguerite Martin of Monroe; seven loving siblings: Gregory (Lisa) Martin of Monroe, John (Jill) Martin of Monroe, James Martin of Monroe, Julie (Ronald) Berns of Honor, MI, Mary (Frank) Dobberstein of Monroe, Noreen (Steven) Head of Monroe and Barbara Brady of Monroe; her father and mother in law: Leonard L. (Diane) Layhew, Sr. of Monroe; and many adored and cherished nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Sadly, Jenny was preceded in death by her father, John (Jack) Martin on February 10, 1983. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00-8:00 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161, where a Rosary Service will be held that evening at 7:00 PM. She will lie in state on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe, MI, from 11:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection Celebrating her life at 12:00 Noon. Fr. James Smalarz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions are suggested to Saint Mary Catholic Central High School.
