MARGARET KOPCHANY ASH MUNSTER, IN FORMERLY OF GARY, IN Margaret Kopchany Ash, age 86, was taken home to our Lord, March 25, 2013. She was born November 4, 1926 in Gary, IN to Michael and Mary Kopchany. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Carol (Hal) Slager of Schererville, IN; and grandsons: Ryan and Colin Slager. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Ash; and brother, Stephen. Upon graduation from Horace Mann High School, Margaret began her secretarial career. While working at U.S. Steel, she met and fell in love with the most eligible bachelor of the accounting department, Roy, who soon became her husband. Other places of employment included Indiana University Northwest as secretary for the director of nursing and Indiana Employment Security Division, Indianapolis. Margaret, originally a city girl, spent a good deal of time in her country kitchen canning and freezing vegetables from Roy's garden, cooking mouth-watering meals and baking special treats for her family. She delighted in her grandsons, and was fond of her flower gardens, classical music and art. As a Girl Scout leader, she experienced many camping adventures and mastered the business of cookie sales. Her final years were spent surrounded by love at Hartsfield Care Center. Margaret was dearly loved by many and her cheerful smile and gentle spirit will be warmly remembered.
