MARY ELIZABETH RINCON SCHERERVILLE, IN Mary Beth Rincon (nee Nolan), age 54, of Schererville passed away serenely on October 26, 2013. Mary Beth was born on July 6, 1959 in Flint, MI. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles M. Nolan; and sister, Christine Nolan. Mary Beth is survived by her lovingly devoted husband, Patrick; her treasured daughter, Elizabeth; her precious mother, Catherine Nolan; her cherished siblings: Karen (Nicholas) Aune, Janice (Robert) Savage, Amy (Paul) Harris, and Michael (Aimee) Nolan; also numerous nieces and nephews whom she held dear to her heart. Mary Beth’s indomitable zest for life was surpassed only by her unrelenting courage in the face of her battle with cancer, a disease she mastered for more than 14 years. Mary Beth’s earthly accomplishments and victories were impressive and reflective of her can-do spirit in the face of years of challenges. She attended Central Michigan University where she earned her bachelor’s degree and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Upon college graduation, Mary Beth moved to Chicago and worked for Marshall Field & Co. in their Training and Human Resources Department. Advancing her professional aspirations to the next level, Mary Beth was proud to join Purdue University Calumet’s Human Resources staff. Being a lifelong learner, Mary Beth pursued her master’s degree and the same year that she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she forged ahead and was indeed awarded her master’s degree. In the subsequent years, Mary Beth rose to become the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources at Purdue University Calumet. Mary Beth was a longtime member of Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Schererville. Mary Beth was a loving wife and extraordinary mother, truly devoted to her family, a successful professional, never met a piece of chocolate she didn’t like, shopped like a pro, loved to sing and dance, was a loyal friend who could be counted on, the ultimate personification of bravery, and lived a full but far too brief life.
