MICHAEL A. SMITH HOBART, IN Michael A. Smith, age 62, a resident of Hobart, formerly of Crown Point, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2013. Michael was a graduate of Crown Point High School, Class of 1969 and attended Indiana University. Michael was a mortgage loan officer at Centier Bank for many years and a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of Deep River Bowmen and a former President of Northwest Indiana Archers. Michael was preceded in death by his father, John W. Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary; son, Jeremy (Julee) Smith; daughters: Jaime Smith and Christina Smith, all of Hobart; grandchildren: Austin and Ryan Smith, Jacob and Katherine Smith and their father, Gregory Smith; mother, Elizabeth Porras of Crown Point; two sisters: Roxanne Smith of Miller; Marla (Tom) Simstad of New Mexico; two brothers: Richard (Connie) Smith of Crown Point and Todd (Felyneth) Smith of Florida; good friend and hunting buddy, Rick Johnson of New Chicago; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with Michael’s family on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th St., Hobart and on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Dr., Hobart until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. with Rev.
