Richard Pers, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores; dear son, Richard Steven of San Diego, CA: devoted daughter, Lynn (Don) Krcmaric of Tucson, AZ: precious grandchildren: Matthew and Jordan Krcmaric of Tucson, AZ, Michelle and William Rembert of Manhattan Beach, CA; son-in-law, Stewart Rembert; sisters-in-law: Emily (late Frank) Pers and Arlene (Clyde) Gercken; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by cherished daughter, Cheryl Pers Rembert; parents: Lena and George Pers; sisters: Charlotte (late John) Strnatka, Martha (late Ed) Kocur, and Irene (late John) Ross; brothers: John F. (late Emma) and Frank (Emily) Pers. Richard was born on December 16, 1924 in Hammond, IN. Upon graduation from George Rogers Clark High School. He served in the U.S. Army Tank division in the Battle of the Bulge during WW II. He married Dolores Kokondy on August 29, 1953. Richard was a graduate of Northwestern University. His career spanned Standard Oil, Pullman Standard, and the Lake County Plan Division. He was an avid golfer, Notre Dame fan, and enjoyed summers at Cass Lake. He was a member of VFW Post 82, the American Legion Post #428, the Battle of the Bulge Inc. Chapter 53, Tucson, AZ and American Legion Post #36 Tucson. Richard's life exemplified being a part of the "greatest generation". A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Tucson, AZ on July 26, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. He will be interred at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Sierra Vista, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to ElderHaven Adult Care Home, a nonprofit corporation, in Tucson, or to Share Foundation. Arrangements by Bring's Broadway Chapel
