RUSSELL L. ARNDT LaCROSSE, IN Russell L. Arndt, age 84 of LaCrosse passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center. He was born on December 30, 1928 in LaCrosse the son of Henry L. and Jean Ann (Foust) Arndt. Russell graduated from LaCrosse High School, was a life member of St. John Lutheran Church, LaCrosse, and was a farmer in the LaCrosse area. He was a past president of the National and Indiana Corn Growers Association, State ASCS Chairman for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, was sent to the GAT talks in Geneva, Switzerland under the Carter Administration, received an honorary Doctorate of Agriculture from Purdue University, was on the Chancellor's Committee at Purdue North Central, Board of Directors for Horizon Bank, Michigan City, past LaPorte County Councilmen, LaPorte County Fair Swine Committee, and held various positions at church. On February 24, 1950 in Hollywood, CA, Russell married Marjorie Buckalew who survives, along with their children: Claudia K. (Les) Hogman of Westville, Arden L. (Connie) Arndt of LaCrosse, and Allan L. (Chris Petersen) Arndt of LaCrosse; grandchildren: Adam, Tiffany, and Lindsay Arndt, and Harold and Aaron Grise; great grandchildren: Aidan, Caleb, Chris, and Ashley Grise. Russell was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 301 N. Washington, LaCrosse with Rev. Joel S. Zipay officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, LaCrosse. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts.
