SHARON L. BELLOVICH WHITING, IN Sharon L. Bellovich, 64, of Whiting passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Manorcare of South Holland, IL. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Buksar) Bellovich; loving sister of Lillian (Dan) Mercer of Munster and Joseph Bellovich of Florida; cherished aunt of Kelly (Mark) Padjen of Munster and Derek Mercer of Chicago; adoring great aunt of Eleanor; many dear aunts, uncles and cousins. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 119th St. and Lincoln Ave., Whiting with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S., officiating. Interment of cremains will take place at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. to time of services. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting. Sharon Bellovich was born on May 9, 1949 and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and the Croatian Fraternal Union. Sharon was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1967. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Indiana University and her Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Governors State University. Sharon formerly taught at East Chicago Washington High School where she also coached girl’s basketball. Currently she was a healthcare coordinator for IliniCare of Westmont, IL. Sharon was a teacher, therapist, counselor and coach and dedicated her life to helping others. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Haven House or to the Whiting Food Pantry would be appreciated.
