Stephen V. Babincsak of Hammond passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara (nee Skura); three aunts: Magdalene Spebar, Florence Babincsak, and Mary Giordano; mother-in-law, Christine Skura; many special loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many dear friends; two sisters- in-law: Jennifer (Robert) Osmolski and Stacia (Michael) Yurkanin; three brothers- in-law: David (Cindy) Skura, Stanley Skura, and Drew (Donna) Skura. Preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Axton; father, Steve Babincsak; several aunts and uncles; dear friends: Blanche and Farrall Swink. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the Anthony & Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 9445 Calumet Ave. (at 45th St.), Munster, IN. Cremation to follow. Visitation Saturday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Stephen was employed as a paralegal and office manager. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Stephen served as Past President of the Vietnam Veterans of America Whiting-Robertsdale Chapter and Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #17. He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School class of 1966. Stephen received his Bachelor's degree at Indiana University Northwest, his Master's degree in creative writing, and his Doctorate in philosophy and business administrative counseling. He had a great love of nature and music. Stephen composed music, played the guitar and keyboard, and loved to write, read, and draw. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #17, 721 State Street, Hammond, IN 46320.
