THOMAS F. ZEMBALA "COACH" HIGHLAND, IN
Thomas F. Zembala "Coach", age 63, of Highland passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 23, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary Jo (nee Canner); son, Matthew; father, Joseph Zembala; brothers: Ted (Stacy) and Larry (MJ); sisters: Marianne (Tom Koltunchek) and Nancy (Glenn) Moldenhaver; sisters-in-law: Barb (Bob) Stasny and Jackie (Mike) Solivais. Thomas was uncle to Michael and Nathan Zembala, Alex and Kyle Zembala, and Phil (Melissa) and Amy Stasny; great uncle to Riley, Parker and Ashley Stasny. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernadette Zembala; and in-laws: Bob and Veronica Canner. Funeral services will be held at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 7:30 PM with Reverend Theodore Mens officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 3:00-8:00 PM. Cremation will follow services. Tom graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in 1968 and earned a B.S. degree from Indiana State University in 1977, a Master of Science degree in Education from Purdue Calumet University in 1983, and a Math Endorsement from Indiana University Northwest in 2009. Tom retired after 36 years of teaching special education and math for the School City of Hammond. He coached football, track, wrestling, and soccer. Tom was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
