VAN BARTNICZAK HEGEWISCH, IL

Van Bartniczak, age 97, late of Hegewisch, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Helen Bartniczak. Loving father of Kathleen (late Robert) Goerl and Van W. (Beth) Bartniczak. Cherished grandfather of Allen Goerl, Lynn Hampton, Alyse Wright and Brian Bartniczak. Proud great grandfather of Pamela, Elliot, James, Andrew, Marietta, Melinda and Nicki. Dear brother of Ann Gorski. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Frank (late Pamela) Bartniczak; parents: Frank and Victoria Bartniczak; siblings: Stanley and Jean. Van proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Republic Steel after 30 years of service. Funeral Services 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at Opyt Funeral Home 13350 S. Baltimore Ave., Chicago, IL 60633 to St. Columba Church for 10:30 a.m. Mass.
