WALTER H. BODE MERRILLVILLE, IN

Walter H. Bode, age 97, of Merrillville, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014. He is survived by four children: Walter (Karen) Bode, Jr., James (late Mary) Bode, Janice (late Paul) Guernsey, David (Joyce) Bode; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (late Ed) Levandoski; step-sister, Angela Sauer; step-mother, Beatrice Bode. Preceded in death by wife, Ethel; parents: Herman and Hattie Bode; two brothers: Ted and Herman Bode; and sister, Alma Rowe. Walter was a member of Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Merrillville and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tolleston. He was a World War II Army veteran, a life member and past Commander of American Legion Post #270, member of 40/8, and a past District Commander for District One. Walter was a retired sales supervisor for Wonder Bread Bakery for 40 years. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. (American Legion and 40/8 service at 4:00 p.m.). Funeral service will be Monday, June 30, 2014 DIRECTLY from Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 7950 Marshall St., Merrillville at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Boshoven officiating. There will be one half-hour of visitation prior to service at church. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
