WARREN G. DOWDY "CHIEF" ORANGE CITY, FL Warren G. Dowdy, age 91, passed away January 31, 2013, in Orange City, FL. Born in Dyersburg, TN in 1921, he moved to the Chicagoland area and graduated from Lane Tech High School. After taking Mary (Dubroja) as his wife in 1942, he honorably served in the U.S. Coast Guard. They began raising three sons while he attended the University of Wisconsin on the G.I. Bill, earning a degree in engineering. He was a Shriner and Elks Club member who enjoyed restoring cars and woodworking, becoming proficient at both. He retired from Ryerson Steel in Chicago as a project manager in 1986. Warren was a well-spoken and respected man who will be missed and remembered by us all. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Dubroja) in 1992; five sisters: Carmel Gurley, Doris Dickey, Louise Mays, Dean Janowski, and LaVerne Drake; three brothers: Walker, Thetis, and James. He is survived by three sons: Roger (Marcia) of DeBary of FL, Ken (Marianne) of Chesterton, and Pat (Diane) of Gold Canyon, AZ; six grandchildren: Keith (Roxanne) of Valparaiso, Collin (Catherine) of Kouts, Cvijeta (James) Orr of Orlando, FL, Jessica Martuscelli of Oviedo, FL, Kristen (Tony) Waterbury of Indianapolis, and Sarah (Jeff) Jura of San Francisco, CA; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and mate, Sue Simms, Deltona, FL. A memorial service was held in Orange City, FL on February 2, 2013. Interment of his cremated remains will privately take place next to Mary's grave at the Deltona Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
