DUNCAN--Abbey Christine. Age 27, of New York, Connecticut, and Bloomington, MN, passed away November 3. Abbey was a beautiful dancer who found a way to inspire the lives of many through the arts. She was an avid environmentalist who believed in doing right for everything and everyone around her. She was a caring and nurturing daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She worked as a hydrogeologist in Connecticut at Leggette, Brashears & Graham Inc. 2006-2008 and for the City of New York at the Office of Environmental Remediation 2008-2009. A member of Soka Gakkai International-USA (SGI-USA) since 2003, Abbey was active in the Connecticut and New York communities. Since 2008 Abbey served as Verdi Square District's Young Women's leader mentoring young women in their practice and study of Buddhism. She was a member of Byakuren (white lotus group) at the New York Culture Center and practiced as the young women's vice-chapter leader in Manhattan Plaza. Her heartfelt efforts to empower young women touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will go to support Abbey's garden and various organizations that benefit the arts and the environment in the communities that she served.
