LOMBARDI--Dr. Angelo R., passed peacefully on July 19th, age 90. He was a founder of the orthodontic program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he taught for over 30 years, a creator of their cleft lip/palate program, and served as Chairman of the Department. He served as President of the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists. He implemented programs for free access to dental screening for school age children and practiced for sixty years. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, served in the Air Force during the Korean War, rank of Captain, stationed in French Morocco where he co-headed the dental clinic. He has Columbia University School of Dentistry degree specializing in orthodontics. He started two orthodontics practices, in Fort Lee and Jersey City, which his son Drew joined in 1984 and both are still active today. He lived in Leonia with his late wife Virginia for nearly 40 years retiring to Naples, FL and Loveladies, NJ. Survived by four children, five grandchildren and a sister. A private memorial is planned in celebration of his life.
