ANNE MEARA Obituary

MEARA--Anne.

Anne, along with her husband Jerry Stiller, was a wonderful friend for 61 years. First we were actors together, then we bonded at the Russian Tea Room and our children, my Ellen and her Ben and Amy, grew up together. Anne and Jerry were great supporters in times of need and in times of celebration. Her talent for friendship, her wit, generosity and candor made her a unique person, and she will be so much missed by all who loved her. Faith Stewart-Gordon

To the family of Anne Meara, I send prayers and my deepest, heartfelt sympathy. My mother Barbara Nadelman and Anne were childhood friends, and several years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to share stories and photos with Anne about their childhood. I was struck by her elegance, intelligence and grace, and I am fortunate to have known her even briefly. The world is a better place because of Anne Meara. I am so sorry for your loss.

Just now I was playing Seven Little Words on my Kindle and the clue was "comedienne Anne" well I knew it had to be Meara. And then I said out loud "Ben Stiller's Mom". I just wondered if he could feel the thoughts radiating through the universe and it would give him comfort. I don't know but I hope so.

I began listening to a record of Stiller & Meara as a kid in the 1850s. I loved their comic timing and played it incessantly. My prayers and love go out to Jerry Ben & Amy. Your wife and mother helped me develop my since of humor which I used for the rough times in my life (like almost dying 5 times). I will be forever grateful for Anne's humor and hutzpah (sp?). I'm a Catholic girl too. I know our Lord is holding Anne in a special place just for laughs. God bless you all.

I can remember the Stiller's having a comedy show when I was a young girl, and I always loved the interaction between the two of them. Later as he was on King of Queens and she made guests appearances they were still as funny as I remember. My condolences go out to Jerry and Ben as a wonderful person has departed from their lives but not their hearts. The same is true of God he will forget us even though we may die. Job asked a question "If a man dies, can he live again?" The answer is a resounding yes, and we have a guarantee of it. May you keep making others laugh in memory of Anne and it will make it easier for you to bear.

Dear Mr. Stiller and family,
You don't know me. I am one of probably thousand of fans of your late wife.
I am sure you are heartbroken right now over her loss.
I would like to share with you how Anne Meara impacted my life.
In 1970 I was a shy young girl who went to see a movie called Lovers and other strangers.
Immediately I was drawn to her portrayal of her character. I saw in her the person I wanted to become. I know she was just playing a part, but her warmth and humor shone through like the shining star she was. That movie started me on the road to who I am. Her influence changed me.
I enjoyed her in every role she played, especially in Murphy Brown, and King of Queens, where I got to enjoy both you deliver incredible comedic performances. Years of experience make a difference there.
I send my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I just wanted you to know that there is a life out here that she touched. I am sure there are many more.

I vividly remember the many and comical performances of Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller on ''The Ed Sulivan Show ''. Their comical witt was genius and timeless. They had a perfect chemistry together similar to George Burns and Gracie Allen.
I was very saddened to learn of her passing., as the entertainment community has lost a very talented and gifted acress and comedienne.
With deepest sympathy to her husband Jerry , her children and family.

The loss of Anne Meara, one of my long time favorites leaves me deeply saddened for her amazing and entertaining family's loss. I adore her whole family: Jerry, who never makes me sad and although I always have seen that twinkle, he can play the straight man so well! Ben...proves that it's in the gene pool...I just finished watching his remake of the Secret Life of Walter Mitty...and I think we have almost every movie he has been involved in. Ben's wife, Christine, who we also adore and can't watch the Wedding Singer without her excellent portrayal of a true Valley Girl! (Native Los Angele-an here, with family all throughout southern Cal); Amy, another gifted talent! Anne will be greatly missed by all who knew her, even if they only saw her once! She was a wonderful Wife and a Mother that anyone would want. Love, Warmest of Hugs and Healing, Prayers...God Bless the Stiller's...I will never forget you! God Bless you all!

Just a note to say that I (a fan) is so sorry for your loss. I grew up watching "Stiller and Meara" and now Ben. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
