CARO--Sir Anthony, OM, CBE, 1924-2013, British sculptor who pioneered the practice of liberating sculpture from the pedestal and pushing the limits of sculptural abstraction. His prolific career spanned more than six decades, during which he was widely renowned as Britain's most important sculptor. David Nash, Lucy Mitchell-Innes and the directors and staff of Mitchell-Innes & Nash gallery send their condolences to Sheila Girling, his wife of 64 years, his sons, Timothy and Paul Caro, and the staff of the Caro/Girling studio.
