ZAKS--Dr. Arthur, of Tenafly, NJ, passed away at the age of 75, on April 26, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Henrietta and Fredrick Zaks. He graduated Stuyvesant High School (1956) and Brooklyn College (1960, Phi Beta Kappa). Dr. Zaks earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine (1964). He completed his internship at Lenox Hill Hospital (1965) and his residency in psychiatry at New York Medical College, Metropolitan Hospital Center (1968). After he became board certified in psychiatry with an interest in drug addiction therapy, he went on to establish South Brooklyn Medical Services. Dr. Zaks was also a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 1970 where he held the rank of Captain. He loved to travel, teach, and had a passion for history, politics, and the New York Jets. He is survived by his loving wife Mary L. (nee Rega); his brother Herbert (Kay); his three children, Zosia, Karen (Brad) and Laura (Ulises); and five grandchildren, Ruby, Eislyn, Tiago, Luka, and Arthur. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
