SEIDEN--Barbara Cohen. Surrounded by her loved ones, Barbara Cohen Seiden, the beloved matriarch of the Seiden Family, passed away at home at age 90 on Thursday, June, 6th. Daughter of Mildred and Herman Cohen, Barbara was born and raised in South Bend, IN. She graduated from Purdue University with a BS in mathematics. There she met and later married Norman Seiden, the love of her life, raising three children in Tenafly, NJ. Married for 68 years, they were life partners in family, business and philanthropic endeavors. Barbara's concern for the quality of life for people, both locally and nationally, is demonstrated through her support of such institutions as Englewood Hospital, The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, The Jewish Home at Rockleigh, The Arnold P. Gold Foundation and the American Technion Society. She was a life member of NCJW, Hadassah and ORT. Together with her husband, her name is identified in Israel through the building of 13 kindergartens and day care centers, a community center and a tennis center. Thirty-eight years ago, when a life-threatening accident suddenly changed her life, she faced her challenges with great strength, courage and optimism. Barbara was a role model for her love and dedication to her family. We will miss her, her beautiful smile and special hugs. She is survived by her husband Norman, her son Stephen (Sharon), daughter Pearl, son Mark (Diane), 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family requests that donations be made to The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, 619 E. Palisades Ave., Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632. The funeral will be held Sunday, June 8 at 10am at Temple Emanu-El in Closter, NJ.
