FERRIS--Barton P., Jr. died October 17, 2013 at age 73 after a long illness due to complications from ataxia. Bart was a graduate of Northfield Mt. Hermon, Princeton University class of 1962 and Columbia Business School. Over the course of his long career as an investment banker, Bart worked for Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc., E.F. Hutton & Co. Inc. and Advest, Inc. He served on several boards of directors, including Ronson Corp., DSLT Inc., and Graham Magnetics. Bart attributed his lifelong interest in athletics and academics to his experience at Northfield Mt. Hermon. He lived the school's philosophy of "the head, the hand, the heart" and devoted significant time fundraising for the school. At Princeton he was captain of the wrestling team while pursuing a thesis in complex mathematical theory. Memberships included The Manhattan Rugby Club, Tiger Inn, Twilight Park Association and the Union Club. Bart was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Juliana, son Jeffrey and his wife Laurie, son Nathaniel and his wife Patricia, brother Warren, many nieces and nephews, and his two loving granddaughters Sally and Annabelle. Bart was sustained throughout his long illness by the devotion of his wonderful friends to whom our family is ever grateful. A service is planned in Twilight Park in Haines Falls, NY in June.
