JACOB--Constance D., on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in New York City, after a long illness. She was born 85 years ago in New Haven to Julius Dorfman and Mildred (Levine) Dorfman. Connie graduated from Radcliffe College, Harvard University, where she met Edwin J. Jacob, her husband of 65 years. Elegant and intelligent, she raised her family and ran her household with style. Among her many enjoyments were the ballet, the theater, literature and travel. Her work as financial aid counselor at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts allowed numerous young artists to go to college. She is survived by her devoted husband Ed, her daughters Louise Jacob, Beth Jacob and Ellen Jacob, her son-in-law Kirk Cheyfitz, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services Wednesday, October 9, at 11:30am at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue, New York City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts or the New York City Ballet.
