UTLEY--Garrick, The members of the Advisory Board of SUNY Global/Levin Institute mourn the passing of Garrick Utley, our founding president and the guiding intellect for the Institute in focusing SUNY's involvement in the challenge of globalization for New York State. Garrick led the Institute from its inception in 2003 in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack, and gave it substance through educational, research and outreach programs in the economic development and human resource sectors. He conceptualized and led a state-wide study of the impact of globalization on the State published in 2011 as "New York and the World". Garrick's effective leadership, the respect with which he was held throughout the world, his broad range of knowledge and his enthusiasm, energy and edication to excellence will be missed by his colleagues at SUNY and, in particular, by the Advisory Board. Garrick's family informs us that a notice of the time and place of a memorial service will be placed in the New York Times in the coming weeks. Matthew Nimetz, Chair Paul Tagliabue, Former Chair SUNY Global/Levin Institute
