STATHAKOS--James F., was born to Frank and Angelina Stathakos in Dallas, Texas on March 24, 1917. He attended University of Texas in Austin, Texas, where he received a law degree. An officer in World War II in the United States Army, he served in the Office of Special Services. As an American Greek, he was stationed in occupied Greece and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service behind enemy lines. In 1946 he married the love of his life Alkione Giovan in Chicago, Illinois. For the next 60 years they divided their time between their homes in New York City and Southampton, NY. For more than thirty years, he held a leadership position in the marine insurance division of Frank B. Hall. In 2004 he retired as a vice president of AoN Corporation. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Deepdale Golf Club, National Golf Links of America, and was well known on the links of the finest golf courses through out the world. His generosity of spirit, gracious manners and winning smile will be remembered by the many he encountered in his daily life. His wife, Alkione, predeceases him, as well as his parents, and sister Constance Condos. A sister Marcella Theodos, twelve nieces and nephews, 11 grand nieces and nephews and nine great- grand nieces and nephews, long time family friend KiKi Spyrou, as well as numerous devoted caregivers survive him. Friends may call Tuesday March 5, 4-9pm at Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Ave at 81st Street. Service Wednesday, March 6, 10am at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 319 East 74th St. NYC.
