O'NEAL--James J. - Jim was born on August 1, 1921. Beloved husband of the late Mary Tierney O'Neal. Devoted father of Sally Maloney of Greenwich CT, Ellen Walsh of Wellesley Hills, MA, Mary Davidson of Rye NY, Kathy Wasilko of Greenwich CT, Peggy Shepard of Rye NY, Nancy Holloway of Springfield MA and Jim O'Neal Jr. of Stamford, CT, 19 Grand children and 23 Great-Grand children. Jim graduated from Notre Dame University, was Senior Class President and winner of the Notre Dame Dome Award. He served as an officer in the US Navy on the USS Canfield in the Sea of Japan during WWII. Jim had a long and successful career in advertising beginning in St. Louis which brought him to New York in 1955 to work for D'Arcy and Campbell-Ewald as a top executive at the firms. He also served as Chairman of D'Arcy International. Jim worked as the lead executive on major national and international accounts such as Olin, Bermuda, Lufthansa, GMAC and General Motors, before retiring from Campbell-Ewald as Group Executive Vice President in 1986. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 30, at the Church of the Resurrection, Rye, NY at 10am followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mary T. O'Neal Scholarship Fund, Convent of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich, CT.
