LEVINSOHN--Jay Douglas. Born May 7, 1923 in New York City, Jay passed away suddenly January 19, at Cedars Sinai Hospital in LA, surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and son. Jay brightened every day and every room with his smile, easygoing manner, and optimistic view of the world. He grew up in NYC and Rumson, NJ, graduated from Phillips Academy Andover, and Princeton University and served for the US Army during World War II. In 1959, he married the former Joyce Salton, and settled in Tenafly, NJ, where they stayed for 35 years. He spent nearly his entire career in the boys and men's clothing business and was one of the industry's leading and most well-liked figures. Father, husband, grandfather, friend, and role model, he was a kind, gentle and inspirational man, and woke each day with optimism. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce, daughter Sharon, son Ross, daughter-in-law Nicole, and grandchildren Skylar and Jagger.
