MELMAN--JoAnne Medalie, of Manhattan, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on May 28, 2014. Born June 11, 1930, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Benjamin Meyer and Eva Lippman, JoAnne grew up in Perry, NY, and is survived by her sister, Judy Sadkin. She attended Cornell University and received an Ed.D from Harvard University and a post-doctoral certificate from New York University in Clinical Psychology and Psychoanalysis. JoAnne was known for her intellectual and cultural insight, charitable involvement and commitment to Middle East peace, love of the town of Wellfleet, MA, and commitment to her students while a psychologist at Teachers College at Columbia University. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30th at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street, New York, at 1pm.
