LESNICK--Joel David. Our beloved husband, father, uncle, and grandfather passed away at home in Bedford Corners, New York on Wednesday, May 28 at age 82 of complications from colon cancer. Born to Elizabeth Rybakoff and Harry J. Lesnick, M.D. in the Bronx on April 6, 1932, Joel attended the Barnard-Horace Mann School and received a B.S. in Chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University in 1953 and a Masters in Business Administration from the New York University School of Business. Joel served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957 and subsequently founded and led his own Certified Public Accounting firm in White Plains for over 40 years. As a long-time Scarsdale, New York resident, Joel served as a member of the Scarsdale Board of Education for six years, including two years as president. He was also an active Johns Hopkins alumnus and fundraiser, serving on the University Advisory Council and Alumni Council. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helaine, his children Elizabeth (Jonathan Gross) and Matthew (Kim Moran), his grandchildren Beattie and Quinn Lesnick and Rebecca Gross, his sister Lila Scherl, his nieces Ellen and Nancy Scherl and his nephew David Scherl, and his sister-in-law Judith Lewittes (David) and his nephew Michael Lewittes and niece Deborah Lewittes.
