SACHS--Joseph D. (1918-2014). Uncle Joe passed away on Monday morning. Affectionately known as "Yoshe" he lived life to the fullest for 96 years. On Saturday he bought four bathing suits for upcoming summer trips to Turks and Caicos and a cruise on the Mediterranean. He had friends and family on three continents. His six nieces and nephews were his sons and daughters, his 17 grandnieces and nephews were his grandchildren and each had a special place in his heart feeling loved and important. A Veteran of World War II and graduate of New York University, he spent productive years at Emerson Radio, Oppenheimer and ADP maintaining continued close relationships with many of his former colleagues. He loved his cozy apartment on East 63rd Street and was able to be worldly and independent thanks to his ever caring companion Coach Steve Mandl. So many stories, so many people touched, he will be both missed and always a part of the lives of everyone who knew him. A celebration of his life will be planned for the fall.
