ARRIGHI--Lara Alden, of Bronxville, NY, died on July 31, 2013 at her home in Cotuit, MA after a two-year struggle with angiosarcoma. She was 42. Lara was born on March 17, 1971 in Hinsdale, IL. She graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, and earned a joint B.A. and M.A. in Politics, Economics, Rhetoric, and Law from the University of Chicago, where she won the Mary Jean Mulvaney Scholar-Athlete Award, and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. After a career in finance, Lara devoted herself to motherhood. Her intellect, disarming sense of humor, and love of play allowed her to effortlessly captivate and engage the creative spirit of her four young children, Luke (7), Frances (5), Mabel (4) and Osborne (2). In addition to her children, Lara is survived by her husband, Dana Arrighi, her parents, Dr. Shakeab and Mrs. Geraldine Alshabkhoun, and her siblings, Tord, Dana, Kris, Natasha and Justin Alden. A memorial mass will be held at the Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville, NY, on August 16, 2013, at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lara's memory to the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, 225 East Chicago Avenue, Box 4, Chicago, IL 60611 and to Phillips Exeter Academy.
