GOLDRING--Lionel Solomon, 90, on October 20, 2013, peacefully, at his winter home in Cocoa, FL. Beloved companion of Beverly Anne Broderick, father of Michael Peter Goldring, brother to Gloria Baker of Los Angeles, with several nieces and nephews. Lionel received an AB degree from UCLA, Phi Beta Kappa and a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Lambda Upsilon honorary societies, in 1943 and immediately reported for work on the Manhattan project in Oak Ridge, TN. Shortly after the end of WWII he got his Ph.D. at MIT in Physical Chemistry and subsequently an MBA in Management from NYU. He spent several years at Brookhaven National Laboratory and seven years with Nuclear Development Corp. of America. He then worked in and managed the Corporate Technical Center of AMF for eighteen years, receiving the AMF Achievement Award; spent two years at Orion Research in Cambridge, MA; seven years with Novametrix Medical Systems in Wallingford, CT and Swansea, Wales; followed by several years with Space Labs in Costa Mesa, CA and Redmond, WA. He chaired Gordon Research Conferences and was president of the MIT club of Orlando for years. Throughout his life, he traveled internationally, read extensively, loved cooking, gardening, birding, his extended family and its dogs.
