DiPAOLO--Louis, age 87 of Salisbury, CT, formerly of Tenafly NJ and River Edge NJ, died peacefully on June 4, 2013. He enlisted in the USMC in 1943, attending summer school in order to graduate early from Blair Academy. He fought in the battle of Iwo Jima as a member of the 4th Marine Division. In recent years, he shared his experiences in the Marine Corps and on Iwo Jima with students in various grades in local schools. A graduate of Princeton University, he joined the family business, Reprostat Corporation, which later became GSO Graphics, retiring in 1996. An avid bicycle rider, Lou rode across the United States three times to benefit Alzheimer's and the NYC Bicycle Police. Lou was active in town government for 31 years while living in Tenafly. He was appointed by five different Republican mayors to board positions and was elected to the town council as a Democrat. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Germaine (Rousseau) eight children (Linda Love, Joan Cribben, Gary, Gail Hussong, Tom, Erik, Evan, Adam) and ten grandchildren. Memorial visitation will be at Barrett Funeral Home 148 Dean Drive, Tenafly NJ on Thursday, June 20th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be at The Church of the Atonement 97 Highwood Ave., Tenafly NJ at noon on Friday, June 21st, followed by burial at Brookside Cemetery Englewood NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity of individual choice.
