TALLCHIEF--Maria, The School of American Ballet is profoundly saddened by the loss of Maria Tallchief. Maria first entered SAB's classrooms in the mid-1940s. As a student, then as a guest teacher and later as a longtime member of the School's Advisory Council, Maria has remained an important and beloved member of the SAB family for almost 70 years. Peter Martins and the board, faculty, staff and students extend our deepest condolences to Maria's sister Marjorie and daughter Elise as we remember and celebrate the life of one of the most influential and accomplished American dancers of the twentieth century.
