DICKSTEIN--Paul. The Board of Directors and staff of Healthfirst mourn the loss of Paul Dickstein, our founding CEO. Built from the ground up in 1993, Healthfirst was a major managed care organization by the time Paul left in 2007. His originality, keen intellect and force of personality were essential to persuade otherwise unaffiliated healthcare organizations to work together to create one of the most successful provider-sponsored health plans in the country, a prototype for an insurance-based accountable care organization. He cared deeply about increasing access to decent health insurance, especially for underserved communities. He gave many people at Healthfirst their first careers and will be remembered with great admiration and affection. Our deepest condolences to his wife, Robin, his children Isabel, Anthony, and Veronica, and his sisters Linda and Diane. Donald Ashkenase, Chairman Pat Wang, President and CEO
