SUTTON--Percy. The City University of New York mourns the loss of the Hon. Percy E. Sutton, a longtime and loyal supporter of CUNY, who as a New York State Assemblyman in 1966 was a sponsor and leading advocate of the establishment of the Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK) program at CUNY. He received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from City College/CUNY in 1995 and an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Brooklyn College/CUNY in 1996. He will be long remembered for his commitment to collegiate opportunity for educationally and economically disadvantaged students. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Leatrice, his son Pierre and his daughter Cheryl Lynn. Benno Schmidt, Chairperson Board of Trustees Matthew Goldstein Chancellor
