STEVENS--Rise. The board and staff of the Metropolitan Opera Guild and Opera News are profoundly saddened by the death of Rise Stevens Surovy. One of the greatest stars of the Metropolitan Opera, Rise served on the board of the Guild continuously since 1972, and for decades gave lovingly of her time, support and wisdom to all of our programs. She will be missed by opera lovers everywhere. Our deepest sympathies go to her son Nicolas, daughter-in-law Marguerite and granddaughter Marisa. Winthrop Rutherfurd, Jr., Chairman Richard J. Miller, Jr., President Stewart Pearce, Managing Director
