WIRTH--Russell D. L. Jr., 83 years old, died peacefully August 9th in Peoria, AZ. Russell D. L. Wirth Jr. was born to Russell D. L. Wirth and Mary McMahon Wirth in Milwaukee, WI on June 30, 1930. He earned a BA summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Yale University in 1951 and an MBA with honors from Johns Hopkins University in 1954. In 1958, Russell married Alice Guion Ardrey of Dallas, TX. The couple divorced in 1971. Russell's business career included: Underwriter, Blyth & Co., 1954-59; Latin Am. Loan Officer, US Dev. Loan Fund, 1960-61; EVP, Int'l Invest Co., 1962-64; Invest Officer, Chase Int'l Co., 1965-67; President, Puerto Rican Financial Group, 1968-92; Co-founder, Hemisphere Oil Co., 1978-1993; Founder, Wirth and Co. Invest Bankers, 1989- Russell's military career included: 2nd Lieutenant, US Marine Corps Reserve, Korea, 1951-53: Decorated Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, UN Korean War medal with three stars, Presidential unit citation; Major, US Army Special Forces, 1977-84. Russell's athletic achievements include: 2x All-Am, US Triathlon; 4x FL State champ, Sprint Triathlon; Member U.S. National Triathlon Team. He is survived by his son Russell D.L. Wirth III, his daughter Mary Elizabeth Wirth, his sister Mary Rogers Littell and his brother Harry McMahon Wirth.
