ULLMAN - Richard H., 80, of Princeton, NJ, died on March 11, 2014. He was a distinguished scholar of international affairs at Princeton University for over forty years, ultimately as the David K. E. Bruce Professor of International Relations. He began his career at Harvard University and while on sabbatical from Princeton was the George Eastman Visiting Professor at Oxford University, where he had received his D.Phil. as a Rhodes Scholar. He educated generations of students and mentored many who have guided United States foreign policy for both Democratic and Republican presidents. Through his own service in the administrations of two presidents, his time on the New York Times editorial board, his leadership of Foreign Policy Magazine as Director of Studies at the Council of Foreign Relations, and through his many articles, Dick made important contributions to the country's pressing foreign policy discussions over many decades. Dick is survived by his beloved wife Gail, two children, two stepchildren and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in coming weeks.
