SALZMAN--Shirley T., 92, of Jamaica Estates, NY, died on December 25, 2012. A savvy businesswoman, Shirley devoted her life to her family both at home and at work. After graduating from New York University in 1942 with a degree in business, she eventually took over the management of 89th Jamaica Realty, founded by her father, and she led it until she was 84. She was also passionate in her support of Israel through her work with Israeli Bonds and her leadership role of the Hillcrest Chapter of Hadassah. She was respected and dearly loved by everyone who knew her. Shirley was the daughter of Benjamin and Matilda Taishoff and the wife for 60 years of the late Charles B. Salzman. She is survived by her daughter Diane Packer. Her daughter Barbara Bobrow predeceased her. She is the mother-in-law of Donald Packer and Samuel Bobrow, the loving grandmother to Michael Bobrow, Sarah Webb, Jackie and Gill Torren and Eric and Aymee Gardner, great-grandmother to Eve, Noah, Sophia, Ben, AJ and Ava and devoted aunt. She will be greatly missed. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hillcrest Chapter of Hadassah.
