LEVY-- Sy. 1929-2012. Mr. Sy Levy, 83, of Greenwood Circle in South Egremont, MA, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at his home. Born April 24, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Benjamin and Hattie Imerman Levy. He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn in 1947 and attended New York University. Mr. Levy was the founder and President of March Advertising in New York City. After selling his business to Interpublic, he became Chairman of the Board of McCann-Erickson March. He has been recognized in "Who's Who in America" for his contributions to direct marketing. He married his wife, the former Suzanne Newman, on February 2, 1949 in New York. Sy and Suzanne moved to the Berkshires in 1971 and have spent the last sixteen years in Egremont. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Berkshire Fishing Club. He also loved gardening, but above all else Sy cherished spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne Levy, along with two sons: Jeffrey and his wife Diane of Queens, NY; Benjamin of Yonkers, NY; his daughter, Honor Levy of Baton Rouge, LA; and four grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Nathaniel and Declan Levy. He also leaves his niece and nephew Deborah and Mark Weinstein who had a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by a brother Murray and a sister Shirley.
