PRICKETT--William, an attorney and longtime resident of Wilmington, DE, died on January 30, 2014, at age 88. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Caroline Johnstone duPont Prickett. His older sister, Elise Prickett Deans, and his younger brother, Harry deBoeck Prickett, predeceased him. He is survived by his three children, William Loening Prickett, Priscilla Prickett Kraft and Dr. Annie Prickett Renzetti, and his five grandchildren. Before retiring in 2008, he was Prickett Jones & Elliott's senior member. The firm was founded in 1888 by his grandfather. He received a BA from Princeton University and his LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1954. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the US Marine Corps in Korea. Among his many legal successes, he was the prevailing lead counsel in several landmark corporate cases, including Weinberger vs. UOP, Smith vs. Van Gorkom, and In re Tri-Star Pictures, Inc. Litigation. He was a founding member of the Brandywine River Museum, and was the first President of the Wilmington, DE Grand Opera House. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 11:00am at the Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, in Centerville, DE.
