UNGAR--William. Temple Israel of Great Neck mourns the loss of its former president, William Ungar. The congregation, as well as the greater Jewish world, benefited by Bill's years of selfless devotion, dedication and bold leadership. A Holocaust survivor from humble beginnings, Bill became a forceful voice in the Jewish, Holocaust survivor, and business communities. He served as a member of the Board of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and was an officer of the Synagogue Council of America. He and his late wife, Jerry, were major benefactors of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Israel's Yad Layeled Museum dedicated to the children lost in the Holocaust, as well as our Waxman High School and Youth House. The congregation extends its deepest sympathy to the Ungar's daughters, Florette, Joan, Denise, and Rita, and the extended Ungar family. Alan Klinger, President; Howard Stecker, Rabbi
