HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Carl J. Morgan, 81, of Northwind Drive, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center after having suffered a stroke.

Services have been held. Burial with full military honors was held at Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery-West.

A native of New Bern, he was born June 8, 1932, the son of the late Daniel I. and Nellie Mae Beaty Mooring. He had served in the 187th Airborne and was a paratrooper and a Korean War Army veteran.

He had worked as district manager for Colonial Bread and Keebler Cookies and for the Commonwealth of Kentucky with state detective G.W. Wiley and for the commonwealth attorney's office as an investigator.

He was a Shriner and a member of Bridge of Hope Fellowship.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Dunn Morgan; a son, Bruce (Connie) Morgan of Brandon, Miss.; a daughter, Mrs. Charlie (Carla) Henderson of Hopkinsville, Ky.; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Duzan and Vivian Jones, both of New Bern and Mildred Grather of Morrow, Ga.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
