ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Julian H. Blythe, 87, of Ormond Beach, Fla. peacefully passed away at home March 19, 2014.
A graveside service with military honors was held in Julian's honor Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Fla.
Julian was born in Beaufort, NC and grew up in Oriental, NC. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in WWII. After service, he married Dorothy "Doris" Hartzel. They raised their 3 daughters in North Carolina. Julian and Doris were married for 25 years before she passed away in 1971.
Julian worked as a pressroom foreman for the New Bern Sun Journal for 44 years. Julian enjoyed retirement in Florida. He was an avid fisherman and loved working in his yard and tending to flowers. Julian was a member of the VFW and a Shriner in NC. He followed the Methodist faith.
Julian is survived by his daughters, Jo Ann Barbre (Bill) of Ormond Beach, Fla., Charlotte Blythe of Vanceboro, and Louise Gmitter (Joe) of Akron, Ohio. He will be sadly missed by his 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Doris; by his second wife of 18 years, Georgia; and by his third wife of 16 years, Muriel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Julian's name to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.
