POLLOCKSVILLE - Robert John Crowning, loving husband, father, and grandfather, of Pollocksville, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at his home at the age of 77. He served eight years in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service, he spent his career as a commercial painter for more than 34 years. He later retired and moved to North Carolina where he enjoyed fishing and volunteering with Religious Community Services. He was a member of the Pollocksville Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masonic lodge for more than 50 years in New Jersey. He also enjoyed watching sports, including football and baseball, along with military documentaries and movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. Crowning, Sr. and Harriett Crowning and his son, Bobby Crowning.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 at Pollocksville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Colin Blair Adams. Burial will follow at Pollocksville Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Crowning of Pollocksville; two sons, Jeffrey Crowning and wife, Lisa of New Jersey and Richard Crowning, also of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Max, Sam, Nick, Quinn and Hannah.
