Betty Jean Wilson

CENTERBURG: Betty Jean Wilson, age 72, of Centerburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Centerburg Pointe Nursing Home.

She was born on May 15, 1941 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Onie and Annabelle (Taylor) Bodkin. Betty was employed as a nurse at the Rose Garden Nursing Home in Mount Vernon and retired in 2011. She was a member of the Ohio Nurses Association and also the Green Valley Southern Baptist Church. Betty was a 1959 graduate of Watkins Memorial High School, and a 1973 graduate of COTC with a degree in nursing. She was a huge OSU football, basketball fan, loved sewing, knitting and cooking. She enjoyed her trips to Hawaii where she would visit old friends. She had a strong faith and loved to help others. Betty was very proud of her three daughters and how they all graduated from The Ohio State University.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Joe) Barber of Mount Vernon, Gwen Gorley of Newark, Susan (Dennis) Combs of Danville; four grandchildren, Jon and Dylan Barber, Sarah Gorley and Jasmine (Chris) Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Nathaniel Cunningham; and her brother, Robert "Sonny" (Bev) Bodkin of Newark.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Lawrence and a son-in-law, Duane Ray Baldwin.

Per Betty's request, there will be no calling hours and the family will observe a memorial service at a later date.
